People who know me well know that I don't go for art classes. Never had money for that. Barely had enough money to have academic tuition. LOL.
I am what you would term as self taught, though books and sheer practice (okay, for manga. I don't really practice fine art stuff. ) on an almost daily basis. I picked up PS through messing around with it too. Colour pencilling too.
How to shade or colour? I am stumped by such a question. I did it by intuition. I learnt through experience.
My family never encourage me to do art.
In the early days, I did my stuff in secret.
Then I didn't care anymore.
What does me drawing have to do with other people?
Art needs a little talent.
But it needs a hell lot more practice and observation.
Art schools do not mean that you will draw like Michelangelo after attending their classes. Goodness, there will a whole score of them already.
Art is always a continuous learning process.
Disclaimer: I am not shooting at any art schools, Singapore or elsewhere, ok? I just find it a tad irritating when people assume you learn it all in art schools. My experience tells me that this doesn't apply to all people.
